DKV Seguros is the Spanish subsidiary of the German company, ERGO Insurance Group, an insurance division of Munich Re. Munich Re, which integrates insurance and reinsurance into their business model, began their international health strategy in 2006.

In May 2009, Munich Re grouped their companies specializing in health in an independent organization under the new brand Munich Health, which DKV Seguros is part of and where the group combines its worldwide expertise in this field.
